Honorable Mention The Quintessential Peach Janis (Carole MacRury) Because of the way he chose a peach – the gentle, testing press; because of the way his eyes closed with that first mouthed bite; because he didn’t wipe juice from lips, from chin – this is why I chose him, this man who worships the way shadows play over curves, crevices, folds; who paints me, like Rubens, with eyes and hands – skin to central core; because of the way he holds and molds me; the way he craves flesh, juice and stone.
